Wanda was in trouble.
All he asked her to do was feed his fish while he was away on a business trip. He'd stopped his newspaper, put a hold on his mail, and even found a kennel for his dog. All of the big things were taken care of, leaving the simplest of all to his scatterbrained sister. She could hear him now, "Oh, sure you managed to get your hair and nails done, buy a new dress, and even see the new Johnny Depp picture, but you couldn't take 5 minutes to stop and feed Carol?"
Well, it was such a small thing, and as small things tend to do, it slipped Wanda's mind for a day or two. Or three. Okay, five. Okay, fine. Two weeks. It was hard to ignore that fact now, especially since the evidence was now floating belly-up in the fishbowl on Wanda's coffee table. She probably wouldn't have even noticed it if her brother hadn't just called, saying he had just gotten off the train and would be there in 20 minutes.

He took a deep breath in and then let it out slowly.
He'd had a good day today, spending his entire time out on the beach, enjoying the sun, listen to the waves. He was pretty sure he'd even dozed off a few times.
Work had been pressing him harder and harder lately, and he was glad for some time to himself. The day had passed too quickly as far as he was concerned and the sun was already below the horizon.
He took another deep breath, letting it out quickly this time, and then stretching his arms out.
He didn't want to leave and he certainly didn't want to have to go back to work tomorrow.
Leaning back on his arms, he stared out into the water, enjoying his last few minutes of freedom, before he had to go back home.
A small breeze blew in his face, and although it felt nice, he could feel a chill on the edges of it, and seeing as he was only wearing a T-shirt and shorts, he knew it was going to get cold pretty fast now the sun was gone.
